THE COLONIAL AMERICAN MAGICIAN

by Joe Lantiere

A Manual For The Experienced Magician

Have you ever been asked to do a magic show in a school, or a magic show for the 4th of July? Did you ever want to include a routine in your act about Colonial American History? Did you ever want to put together an act as a Colonial American magician but didn’t know what to do, what to wear, what background music to play or where to get the props?

This unique book will guide you how to do magic with a Colonial New England American-type theme. It includes a dozen routines using modern apparatus you probably have gathering dust in your closet, basement or attic.

Also included are sections on a brief history of Colonial American magic. your costume, the gibeciere (magician’s pouch), Colonial American language & trivia, Colonial American themed jokes for children, background music, where to find work & sample flyers, and web site resources where to find many of the materials and props.

Please note that this is not a book about re-creating a colonial magician's act (you can research old magic books yourself). It is, instead, a modern act with a colonial "flair."

This book is 83 pages, with parchment-like sheets to give it that “olde world” flavor, and is spiral wire bound to keep the book open and flat while reading. It has a color cover protected by clear plastic overleaf, and is profusely illustrated with more than 100 photos and drawings. Only 100 copies of this first edition were published. Each copy is numbered and signed by the author. Published in September 2007, the price is only $25 plus postage.
